Laukh – foldable wooden book stand is probably one of the most unique and complicated articles of Uzbek folk arts. Made of a single piece of wood with no use of nails, glue or hinges the multilevel laukhs can be up to twelve level range. The very process of production is intricate starting with selection of solid types of wood usually walnut tree, preserving pieces of wood in dry and dark place from 8 to 10 years with constant turnovers.
